20 Things you need to know before visiting Bali


If you are looking for affordable or even romantic getaway, your best bet is definitely Bali. The peak season for bali is around July and August so if you don't want your photos to be repeatedly bombarded by photobombers, you may want to reconsider your travelling date. 


I had been to Bali several times and it is always magical to me. Frankly speaking, I can never seem to get bored of this place. This island has always sent me in awe, awe by the nature and how spectacular it can be. You get the mountains if you are into trekking, you get a variety of waterfall and beaches if you like swimming and beautiful sceneries everywhere!


Things you need to know before visiting Bali

  • Bali is a water sports paradise so you can consider picking up surfing and diving.
  • Bali is dramatically mountainous, especially in the west Bali. The center of the island is dominated by a number of volcanic mountains. The more popular ones are Mount Agung and Mount Batur and are available to public of hiking.

  • Mount Agung is their tallest and active volcano mountain. The last eruption occured in year 2017.
  • The beaches in East Bali has dark sand caused by volcanic ashes in the previous severe eruption of Mount Agung.
  • Bali temperature typically range from 32deg to 35deg celcius and the weather gets hot as early as 10am in the morning. BRING YOUR SUNSCREEN.
  • Bali is less humid during the dry season that typical occurs from April to Sept. 
  • As balinese are Asian, their main staple is rice and that is well explained by the    number of rice terraces they have. This is also the cause of change in natural landscape contributing to one of its most breathtaking view in Bali. We definitely recommend to view Jatiluwih Rice Terrace
  • Bali peak season happens around July to August 



  • Other agricultural produce includes cacao, tea, coffee, spices, flowers, fruits like bananas, coconuts and etc.

  • There are around 35 different species of bananas in the world and Bali itself has 33 species of them
  • Bali is only place in Indonesia where Muslim is considered minority. 
  • Most Balinese are Hindus and not Muslim, and that is why Bali is the only place in Indonesia you get to buy beer (YAY!!). 
  • Bali is the only place in Indonesia that commonly sells pork. Apart from their fried crispy duck, Babi Guling (Pork) is one of their famous dish.

  • It is difficult to differentiate Balinese and Muslims apart because they do not have any distinctive features or skin tone. 
  • The first language in Bali is still Bahasa Melayu even though you can occasionally catch Balinese communicating in Balinese language.
  • Balinese build their own temples at the entrance of their home and they have separate altars for their Hindu Gods and their ancestor. 
  • Balinese pray 3 times a day and you can often see them placing daily offerings known as Canang Sari in places such as temple, house temple, on the ground and etc. Items such as fruits, flower, cake, tobacco and etc can often be seen included as part of the offering.
  • Each Balinese temple has their own celebratory dates according to the Balinese calendar and on these dates, only Balinese in the traditional attire can enter to attend the ceremony. Visitors will be denied entry.
