KANCHANABURI FOOD GUIDE (Near Bangkok)

Taking away the hustle bustle of Bangkok, the best part of our trip in Thailand is definitely Kanchanburi. There were not many food recommendations that we can find while planning the trip but we were fortunate enough to chance upon good restaurants below...

1. Do Love Farm Cafe and Restaurant

I was a bit skeptic when i chanced upon this cafe. The name seem largely catered for tourists and i mean... most tourists would rather eat local food isn't it? We were taken aback when we realised most of their staff do not understand english. Thankfully we were able to communicate with one of their staff who understand basic english.

We were there during the Chinese New Year period so they had decorated the place with fanciful red lanterns.

They had recently renamed their cafe from Do Love Cafe and Restaurant to
ดูเลิฟ ฟาร์มคาเฟ่ แอนด์ เรสเตอรองค์ so do bookmark this place before visiting.

2. Som Tum Yum Zab

Som Tum Yum Zab is equipped with both indoor sitting as well as alfresco hut. It is a nice dinner place with good ambience. Friendly staff as well as a live band to keep you entertained and mesmerised. They sell both western food and thai food; keeping your appetite in check when you are getting bored of local delicacy.

3. 10 o'clock Cafe

We patronized this cafe in the late afternoon. There were not many people around even though we left around dinner time. We have yet to find anything to fault the cafe for the entire 3 hours we sat there to chill. We do love the cosy environment in addition to their mains and dessert.

4. Keeree Lara Restaurant

We came across really good reviews on this restaurant so we had set our expectations high on this. What differentiates this from other restaurant is the locality. This restaurant is situated along River Kwai, hence a breezy and romantic place to dine at night. It was fully occupied upon our arrival and we had waited for a good 30mins to get a seat. Do make a reservation prior to your visit to avoid the waiting time. Tourists do flock to this restaurant since it is near to Bridge at River Kwai, so do expect this place to be pricier.

5. Im-Jung Mookata (BBQ)

Honestly, I hesitated to share this. We chanced upon this Mookata and BBQ place near our hotel and it was almost always full whenever we passed by. They offer the basic vegetables, chicken, pork, beef as well as a wide variety of seafood. We were catching live prawns ourselves from a big tub and all of these merely cost 259 baht per person.
