BALI TRAVEL GUIDE - CENTRAL

If you are looking for affordable or even romantic getaway, your best bet is definitely Bali. The peak season for bali is around July and August so if you don't want your photos to be repeatedly bombarded by photobombers, you may want to reconsider your travelling date.

I had been to Bali several times and it is always magical to me. Frankly speaking, I can never seem to get bored of this place. This island has always sent me in awe, awe by the nature and how spectacular it can be.

Brief introduction to Bali...

Bali is a part of Indonesia predominantly populated by Balinese and the only place where Muslims is considered minority. Most Balinese are Hindus and not Muslim, and that is why Bali is the only place in Indonesia you get to buy beer (YAY!!). It is difficult to differentiate them apart because they do not have any distinctive features or skin tone. Their first language is still Bahasa Melayu even though you can occasionally catch Balinese communicating in Balinese language.

TIP: Do bring your sunscreen as bali can be hot starting as early at 10am.

CENTRAL BALI

1. Jatiluwih Rice Terrace

Personally I have been to a number of rice terrace in asia and Jatiluwih Rice Terrace is by far with the most scenic view. Most people are aware of this vast piece of rice terrace spanning about 600 hectares but do not really make an effort to visit just because it is really out of the way. There is also guest house in the area if you would like to consider spending a night here and admire the view. You may also be greeted by the star-plastered night view if you decide to spend the night here. We spent about an hour trekking in the area before rushing to our next destination. If not for the time constrain, we will definitely spend a couple more hours.

OPENS: 03:00 to 18:00 daily
ENTRANCE FEE: IDR 40,000 per person. IDR 5000 for car parking

2. Campuhan Ridge walk

Campuhan Ridge Walk

Campuhan Ridge walk is basically a quiet smack right in the bustling Ubud. It is actually quite hard to believe somewhere so serene exist in such a lively Ubud city. Note that shade is minimal so do plan your visit during the early morning or late afternoon. We came in the afternoon and factored just about 2 hours for this trek. However to our surprise, we finished the trek (one way) in less than an hour. To actually sum it up we were strolling under the blazing sun and did not get to see the sunset because we had too much time left at the end of the trek. We are pretty sure the round trip will take less than 1.5hour and the view will be pretty amazing coupled with the sunset.

OPENS: 24hours daily
ENTRANCE FEE: Free

3. Kanto Lampo Waterfall

Kanto Lampo Waterfall is easily accessible as compared to most waterfall that would require longer duration of trek. I would suggest to trade Tegenungan waterfall for Kanto Lampo Waterfall instead. The source of water comes from a dam and even though there were a number of tourists visiting, the water is still relatively clear unlike in Tegenungan waterfall. At the deepest, the water level is about 1m deep so you can always don on your favourite swimsuit and swimmmm.  It is also quite a common sight to see tourist (like us lol) climbing up the rocks for instaworthy photos. Note that the rocks can get a little slippery so be careful when you are there.

OPENS: 24hours daily
ENTRANCE FEE: IDR 15,000 per person, Free Parking
