BALI FOOD GUIDE: 7 Food Places You Need to Visit in Bali

When it comes to Bali, most people would actually not rave about the food since it is all the scenic views we are all after. We had shortlisted a few places we would like to give a special shout out to and will definitely revisit again.

1. Bebek Teba Sari Restaurant

Apart from its nice ambience over looking fish pond and rice terraces, this place is highly sought after for its signature Crispy Fried Duck. The duck meat is incredibly tender and moist. You can choose to  topped it off with their sauce or chili provided or both. We loveee the chili and even dipped the complimentary prawn crackers in it. It can be a little pricey for Bali food but hey, it's really worth the trip!

2. Warung Dedari

Second to Bebek Teba Sari, Warung Dedari is also notable for their crispy fried duck. We tried a set for 4 persons that include fried crispy duck, fish, fried fish fillets, toufu, tempeh, vegetable and watermelon slices for dessert. Even though the fried crispy duck was not as tender was Bebek Teba Sari, we still highly recommend this place. In addition to the nice ambience, their staff were warm and friendly too. Best of all, free Wi-Fi.

3. iiGA Warung

We were skeptic upon entering the restaurant. The setting looks like just another typical tourist-scamming place when all we were after was local food. We visited their second branch newly opened in the year and it was undoubtedly swarm with Chinese tourists. We heard that the restaurant may have contracts with chinese tourist agencies and hence, we had second thoughts on the place even though it was highly recommended. Then again, where can you feast on pork ribs apart from Bali, in Indonesia? We ordered Pork ribs, Beef ribs and Chicken chop that were all served promptly. Truth be told, the foods looked nothing but ordinary and yet on the first bite we tell we were so wrong. The ribs were flamed grilled to perfection. The pieces of meat were so tender and the sauce that topped it of was perfect as well. The pork rib rose to fame instantly. Do make sure you make a trip down to visit this restaurant!

4. Jaya Fried Chicken

Jaya Fried Chicken, JFC for short, is one of their favourite local delights (even though it is an imitation of KFC). Highly recommended by the locals for it's price and taste. The TSP team managed to check out one of the JFC outlet that is hidden in one of the alleys in Central Ubud. Even though it is much smaller in portion, we did understand why it is one of the locals' favourite place. The chicken tasted juicy and tender, unlike some chicken specialty restaurant that serves really tough and dry chicken pieces. The best deal of all? A set with chicken drumlet, rice and drink starts from IDR10,500 ONLY?! Do check out JFC when you are in Bali, especially if you are a big fan of chicken specialty fast food like KFC and Popeyes etc.

5. Seniman Coffee

Tipat Goreng

Chicken and Fries

Avocado Toast
When it comes to coffee in Bali, most people will instinctively thought of Seniman Coffee. Apart from their specially designed rocking chair which you can bring home for a fee, we all agreed unanimously that no coffee lovers should leave Bali before dining at this place. The fragrant aroma of the coffee is sufficient to attract anyone to enter this cafe. They even got a merchandise shop right opposite their cafe and they do conduct coffee brewing workshops that you will need to make prior reservations. We got here in the afternoon and the place was still full from the brunch-goers, cafe chillax-er (?!) and perhaps travel bloggers. On top of their coffee, do try out their Tipat Goreng and avocado toasts!

6. Tukies

Single scoop Coconut Ice Cream
Personally i had a mini struggle to recommend this shop because it is already that popular. Suggestive to coconut husk, Tukies specialty is none other than coconut. I visited 2 years ago for the first time, the shop was half full. 2 years later the shop is always full. The coconut ice-cream is undeniably the highlight, along with many other healthy clean products. Our favourites to go are coconut ice cream, granola bars, dried coconut shavings and coconut butter. Do make sure you check out the coconut ice cream. It is a flawless blend of coconut and milk together to make this perfect coconut ice cream.

7. Chocolate Pod Factory

Chanced upon this chocolate factory while on our way to other destination. They made their chocolate from scratch; processing of raw cacao and eventually to their signature 80% dark chocolate. The best deal of all is anyone can try all their flavours, from dark chocolate, milk chocolate and white chocolate incorporated with various nuts, fruits and even coffee beans, for free! Beyond these extensive variety of chocolates, you may also chill in their cafe if you have some spare time and also learn about how they produce their chocolate bars to perfection.

Babi Guling

Where else in Indonesia will you find pork? That is none other than Bali. Babi Guling, as the name suggest, is their locals' favourite spicy pork dish. Apart from pork meat, you get the organ parts, fats and skin (oh collagen yums). This simple yet filling dish costs about IDR 25,000 by a food stall located just along the road. The pork has a peculiar smell that is not to our liking so we did not want to add to our list, but for those pork and spicy food lovers you should definitely try it out!
