KOMODO ISLAND GUIDE - 5 Islands You Must Visit

Labuan Bajo is an island that thrives mainly on Komodo Tourism. There are plenty of boats and agencies you can find on the island and hence, you can book your tour directly on the same day. These are the typical islands you should explore if you had made your decision to set foot for the tour.

1. Rinca Island
Rinca island is akin to Komodo Island. Ironically, komodo dragons can be found in abundance on Rinca island compared to Komodo island. Most people will visit Rinca island to see the Komodo Dragons as the island is nearer to Labuan Bajo.

2. Padar Island
Located in between Rinca Island and Komodo island, a short trek of approximately 30 minutes will bring an iconic view of this island. It is advisable to be there early in the morning or in the evening for the breathtaking view of this island. Though the trek is manageable, we still advise putting on your sports shoes for the uphill climb.

3. Kalong Island
Most boats will park along Kalong island for spectacular sunset view. In addition to the sunset, you will be able to witness thousands of bats blanketing the skies as they exit the cave. We were very much awed by the view.

4. Pink Beach
Pink sand, pink beach and pink corals! Sources mentioned that the colour of the beach is due to the calcium carbonate metabolite by the tiny organisms that live in the coral reefs. Do make sure you are visiting the long pink beach. We visited the much smaller pink beach, but in return we got the entire small beach and definitely our own share of fun to ourselves.

5. Manta Point
This is the deeper part of the sea where one is more likely to see the mischievous manta rays. You do need a bit of luck to see manta rays swimming up from the sea bed to find their food. Do keep your snorkelling equipment in check. We were extremely lucky as we were surrounded by Manta rays when we were there around noon.

Komodo Island Tour was definitely the highlight of our trip. We had so much fun with the entire chartered private boat. Do check out this post on tips for getting to Komodo Island.
